How is your website giving directions?
SCENE: Somewhere in rural Nebraska. You've been driving for the last 7 hours on a big road trip and you've got two hours left behind the wheel for the day. You're desperate for a cup of coffee. A little town appears on the horizon and so you decide to stop and ask for directions to the best coffee in town.
Right near the entrance of the town you see a little grocery store with a table outside and three friendly-looking old men sitting under the shade of the umbrella.
"Perfect," you think, "I bet they'll know where to find a cup of coffee in this town."
So you pull over, get out of your car, and walk in their direction. Sure enough, they're super friendly, welcoming, and full of smiles for you. But in answer to your question you get:
"Okay, so you drive down this stretch here, and in 2 stop signs turn left and then a quick right where Mabel's Diner used to be. You can't miss that burnt building...such a shame, you know, what happened to Mabel's granddaughter."
"Actually, Fred, I think it's 3 stop signs," pipes up one of the other gentlemen.
"We have 3 stop signs?!" replies Fred questioningly.
"Okay, well could you give me the name of the place to get coffee? I could just pop it in my maps app and GPS will take me there" you decide.
"Oh no," says the last of the three old men. "GPS don't work out here."
Is your website giving directions like this to your offer?
Wouldn't it be so much better if this is how it went down?
You pull up to the one gas station in this tiny Nebraska town and next to you filling up her tank is someone around your age driving a yellow VW Bug holding a cup of coffee!!
"Oh girl, I could sure use a cup of coffee. Where did you get that?" you ask.
She turns to you, smiles, and says, "There's actually an espresso machine and a killer barista inside the gas station. Follow me. I'll introduce you." ☕️
